You know those mornings when you’re short on time but still want to feel like you’ve got it together? Whether it’s a quick coffee run or plans with friends, having a few go-to outfit combos makes getting dressed way easier. In this post, I’m breaking down the outfit formulas I always come back to—the ones that make you feel put-together without overthinking it, using pieces you likely already have in your closet.
Think of an outfit formula as your style backup plan. An outfit combo that always works. Once you figure out a few you love, you can mix and match your wardrobe in a way that feels effortless but still looks like you spent time planning it out.
Outfit formulas are great for:

1. Oversized Blazer + Basic Tee + Denim + Loafers
Why it works: This combo is my go to because it is the perfect balance between casual and elevated. It’s gret for transitional seasons or anytime you want to feel put together without trying too hard. You can wear it to class, coffee dates, or even casual meetings.
Style it: Choose a structured or oversized blazer depending on your vibe. I love this combo with straight-leg or baggy jeans (skinny jeans are so out!) Add a leather belt, gold hoops, a nice bag and a sleek bun or slicked ponytail to add that final polish.
Why it works: This look is all about proportions. The tank gives a fitted, clean base while the flowy pants create movement. It's a minimal outfit that feels intentional and effortless.
Style it: I like to stick to neutrals like white, black, grey, or muted tones. Choose trousers that are flowy yet put together (the Effortless pants from Aritzia are my fav),and finish the look with clean sneakers (Adidas Sambas or New Balances work great) and a mini shoulder bag. Add layered necklaces for something extra.

3. Button-Up Shirt + Midi Skirt + Sandals
Why it works: This formula blends feminine with classic. It’s versatile and perfect for warm weather days, shopping trips, or even more dressed-up settings depending on your fabric choices.
Style it: Use a white or striped cotton button-up and a flowy or satin midi skirt. You can tuck it fully, do a half-tuck, or tie it at the waist. Sandals can be simple slides, platforms, or strappy depending on your vibe. Finish the look with a cute bag and dainty jewelry.
4. All Black + Statement Accessories
Why it works: Going monochrome in black makes any outfit look instantly intentional. You can keep the base simple (like black jeans + black tee) and use accessories to define the mood: chic, edgy, or playful.
Style it: Add personality with a bright bag, bold earrings, or red lipstick. Try mixing textures too: matte black jeans with a ribbed black top or a silky black skirt with a chunky knit.

Why it works: This is one of my favorite transitional season looks because it's cozy on top and flirty on the bottom. It’s cute for fall walks, apple picking, or casual date nights.
Style it: Go for a slightly oversized sweater (tucked or untucked) and pair it with a denim, leather, or knit mini skirt. Add structured knee-high boots (flat or heeled). You can layer a trench or longline coat over top for a styled-out feel.
Honestly, once you figure out the outfit combos that make you feel confident and comfortable, getting dressed becomes so much easier. These are the formulas I find myself repeating again and again, but you can add your own little tweaks to make them suit your style!
